Stephan GYÖPÖS violinist

He studied at the Bratislava Conservatory in the class of A. Vrteľ. His diploma concert featured J. Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major, earning him the title of “Best Graduate of the Year.” He continued his studies at the VŠMU in Bratislava under Prof. J. Skladaný, graduating with a red diploma, performing a Bartók violin concerto with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hideaki Muto. He attended masterclasses in Glasgow with Y. Neaman (1977) and in Pécs (1979). In 1986, he performed with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and in 2006 he received the “Talents for Europe” pedagogue award in Dolný Kubín. Competition achievements include: Slovak Conservatory Students Competition 1976, 1978, 1980 – 1st prize; Beethoven Competition in Hradec u Opavy, 1978 – honorable mention; Interpretation Competition in Banská Bystrica, 1983 – Banská Bystrica City Award, among others. He has performed in numerous countries, including the UK, Italy, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Poland, and Austria. Since 1986, he has been teaching at the Bratislava Conservatory, and from 2013, he was a member of the Vienna “Orchester der schönen Künste” chamber orchestra. As a soloist and pedagogue, he enriches the education of teachers and students through workshops, open lessons, and methodological meetings. Gyöpös is the artistic director of the Schubert Fest, founder of the Franz Schubert Society, and organizer of numerous musical events.
